Donate blood with the Hudson Police Department and help your community prepare for emergencies
Give blood on September 24th at the Hudson Community Center to help patients in need
HUDSON, N.H., September 16, 2024 — Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time, to anyone, often without warning. Did you know a single car accident victim may require up to 100 units of blood? A strong blood supply is key to preparedness for disasters and medical emergencies. While the blood supply continues to recover after an emergency blood shortage this summer, a steady increase in lifesaving blood products is vital to ensuring hospitals are ready for any situation this fall.
Join the Hudson Police Department in donating blood on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hudson Community Center (12 Lions Avenue). The department has a goal of collecting more than 100 donations of lifesaving blood.
Every day, the American Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 blood donations to meet the needs of trauma patients and others with serious medical conditions across the country. One in every seven patients entering the hospital will need a blood transfusion. While all blood types are needed, type O negative donors are especially important. Because it is the universal blood type and can be transfused to patients of any blood type, type O negative blood is what emergency personnel reach for when there is no time to determine the blood type of patients in the most serious situations.
All who come to give Sept. 16-30, 2024, will get a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. For details, visit RedCrossBlood.org/Fall.
